Cybersecurity: threats and how to protect yourself

Identity fraud, blackmail, extortion, hacking, phishing… whether on the darknet or the clearweb, more and more criminal entities are offering their services. Some of them have their own human resources departments, and most of them have an after-sales service responsible for negotiating with victims. Digital security has become a major concern for our connected societies, both on a personal and professional level.

In Geneva and French-speaking Switzerland, some remarkable initiatives are helping to strengthen digital resilience and promote a safer cyberspace. Representatives of three of these initiatives have honored us with a presentation on their activities, which are helping to position our region as a world leader in cybersecurity:

  • Mr. Stéphane Duguin, Director of the Cyberpeace Institute, which strives to protect, at no cost, the most vulnerable – hospitals, humanitarian NGOs, etc. – against cyberattacks, to analyze threats, to promote the responsibility of digital players, to campaign for peace in cyberspace, for the establishment of ethical standards and response mechanisms to cyber incidents through partnerships with international organizations, governments and businesses.
  • Ms. Lennig Pedron, Director of the Trust Valley, told us about this unique ecosystem that brings together cybersecurity, technology and innovation players in French-speaking Switzerland. This network includes public authorities, academic institutions and economic players, and fosters the exchange of expertise, the creation of partnerships and the development of innovative projects to meet the digital security challenges faced by companies and organizations in the region.
  • Finally, Mr. Raffael Maio, Chief Strategy Officer and co-founder of NetGuardians, presented the activities of this company specialized in fraud prevention and the detection of abnormal behavior in financial transactions, thanks to innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence and data analysis.

To complete the picture of expertise, we were also pleased to welcome Police Captain Patrick Ghion and digital lawyer Nicolas Capt.
